Have you ever thought about using chalkboard paint? I really hadn't, other than seeing some cute ideas online. I'm always picky about my paint anyway, since I want no-VOC paints. So when I got the opportunity to try Lullaby Paints, I was excited. Now that school's out, I had time to do some projects and try my hand at this artsy task.
Lullaby Paints are no VOC. The chalkboard paints come in 16 colors, so you aren't stuck with just a boring black. They also have 32 colors of regular paint, perfect to safely add color to any baby's nursery. The chalkboard paints are kits with tape, a mini tray and roller, and enough paint for two coats of 30 square feet.
I didn't have a space for a chalkboard that big; I finally settled on painting some cupboards. I had leftover paint, so I tried painting a few other things - a vase, a planter, some picture frames - and am actually pretty proud of the results!
Being in the kit made it easy - I didn't have to go out and get other supplies to paint. And I loved that there wasn't any strong paint smell while I was doing it; no dangerous fumes I had to worry about!
