Thrifty Thinking: Making Your Cellphone Battery Last Longer

By Anson Liang of Jackery

1Go through at least one charge cycle per month.
Keeping the electrons in the battery moving occasionally is important to the proper maintenance of a lithium based battery. Going through at least one charge cycle per month will help better maintain the battery life. This means consumers should let the smartphone run until the power is less than 20% and then recharge.

2Avoid over charging
Unplug your smartphone within 5 hours after charging is completed. External batteries, like Jackery and Mophie, will automatically turn off when charging is completed to avoid over charging your smartphone.

3Avoid excess heat
Charging your smartphone with battery cases may generate excess heat, which can affect your battery capacity. If you notice that your smartphone gets hot when you charge it, take it out of its case first. External batteries will protect your smartphone from excess heat generated during charging.

iPhone temperature range
Your iPhone works best from 32°F to 95°F (0 to 35 ) and you should store it in environments of -4° to 113° F (-20 to 45). Keep your iPhone close as possible to the room temperature will give you a longer battery life.
