Fun Freetime: Vino Vertias

Vino Veritas is a film about what happens when we’re really telling the truth. This indie comedy takes its title from the Latin proverb, which literally translated: "in wine, the truth," suggests that people reveal their truest feelings with a little alcohol.

In Vino Veritas, thanks to the effects of a special tribal wine, the characters are stripped of the carefully composed social masks they have diligently fashioned for themselves. The superficial veneer of what passes for civilization is peeled away, layer by layer, to reveal not just personal quirks and secrets, but the primal core that drives so much of our behavior as human beings.

Whether the subject is children, faith, sex, death, or the drives and desires that are hardwired into our DNA, this is, finally, a film about what it means to be human. The film makes us look at ourselves too: what would we say with a glass of Vino Veritas in our hand?

The film stars Bernard White, Brian Hutchison, Heather Raffo and Carrie Preston (of The Good Wife and True Blood, among many others). In one scene Carrie Preston’s character, a mom who’s watched a little too much Winnie the Pooh, she shares what many moms and dads may really think about the characters from the 100 Acre Woods. We know this will resonate with so many readers of your blog!
