I recently had the chance to review Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny, which promises that it isn't just another diet book. It wasn't. There were some things in the book that I really agreed with, others not so much. I loved the idea that "diet" implies a beginning and end, and it's more of a lifelong focus on eating healthy. That is true. I also liked the inclusion of a journal to help track and record thoughts, feelings, successes, fallbacks, etc. The author is experienced in that she's tried to lose weight over and over and finally found something that works, which is great for her - and like many diet books, they aren't going to work for everyone.
The plan is simple, which is why it will work for some people. A week of very restrictive eating, a longer period of somewhat restrictive eating until goal weight is achieved, and then a lifetime or on-and-off restrictive eating (to put it simply, the book is a little more detailed). There's a high focus on staying away from sugar (good) and correct information about protein being healthy, but I don't necessarily agree with protein-only days. But, again, if it works for her (or you) and you are able to keep up with overall nutrition recommendations, then it's a lot better than eating unhealthy and being miserable!
