Consumer Critique: Two New Mysteries!

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

I recently had the chance to read two new mystery novels.

Jex Malone by C.L. Gaber & V.C. Stanley - This book, reminiscent of young detective Nancy Drew, follows a teen who finds the unsolved murder that led to her parents' divorce in her father's files. She and two new friends poke around until they solve the case, despite the fact that someone clearly wants them to quit. This is a great book for teen girls who like mysteries but are ready for something a little more grown-up. The character development and plot are enough to satisfy many adult mystery fans as well.

Tunnel Visions by Kurt Kamm - This book takes the Sylmar Tunnel explosion, a historical event from 1971, and blends it with the current struggle for the water supply in California and a fictitious plot to attack the water system in LA. The 40-year-old mystery blends well with the history of water wars to create an engaging mystery/thriller book.

I like reading mysteries. They're fast, and gripping, since I can't wait to get to the end and follow the twists and turns along the way. Neither book was a disappointment, and they both make great summer reads!
