Book Nook: All-Electric America

All-Electric America is written by S. David Freeman and Leah Y. Parks. Freeman is a leading authority on energy policy. He was appointed by President Jimmy Carter as head of Tennessee Valley Authority, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. After 7 years at TVA, he spent 30 years as the CEO of major public utilities in Texas, California, and New York. is an associate editor for ElectricityPolic.com and Electricity Daily, a journal and daily newsletter that examine current events and the state of the electricity industry for utility executives, commissioners, regulators, and other experts in the field. Their  new book, All-Electric America, which explains how making the transition to an all-electric, all renewable society is necessary, practical, and achievable, as well as reliable, cleaner, safer, and cheaper.

The book, which I got to review, is clearly well-researched. Although the authors are industry experts, they don't use difficult-to-understand industry jargon, making it easy to grasp. The nice thing with electricity is it has the potential to be all renewable. Although right now, much of our electricity comes from fossil fuel sources, with the increasing viability in solar, wind, and other options. It's nice to look forward to a future that could rely less on dwindling resources!
