Consumer Critique: Lightlife Smart Dogs #MomsMeet

I recently had the chance to try out Light LifeSmart Dogs through Moms Meet. I was really skeptical, since I happily eat my grass-fed beef hot dogs and they are delicious. Light Life has been around since 1979 and make plant-based, non-GMO meat substitutes. Plus, 5% of their profits are donated to help support a healthier planet.

There are some definite pluses to Smart Dogs. They have significantly fewer calories than conventional hot dogs, and are much cheaper than organic meat hot dogs. They do have some slight disadvantages too - they don't taste exactly the same as beef hot dogs. Now, that doesn't mean they aren't good, just that they aren't quite the same. As with many other food substitutes, if you expect an exact match, you may be disappointed, but if you are willing to be flexible on what it tastes like, you'll find that these Smart Dogs are pretty good. For me it's like the difference between dairy milk and rice milk - I love them both, but they do taste different. My kids ate them without a problem, with my husband being the only hold out. However, even he liked them when they were campfire roasted.

If you're looking for a way to cut calories or enjoy meatless options, these are an easy-to-find, good-value alternative! You can learn more and get cooking and recipe ideas on facebook.com/lightlifetwitter.com/lightlife, or pinterest.com/lightlifefoods.
