Consumer Critique: Estes Rockets

My girls love science and my husband loves space, so it was a lot of fun to have the chance to review model rockets from Estes Rockets.

Rockets are fun - for kids and adults alike. I don't know what it is about them, maybe it's the explosion or the flight or the excitement and imagination, but they're fun. The girls have enjoyed launching rockets since we made our first tiny rocket with a little plastic bottle, cork, and bicycle pump. They still enjoy it, and these rockets provided even more "bang for the buck" than that early creation did.

Estes rockets can fly from 100 to 2000 feet - so naturally, there is a safety element involved. Selections like the air rocket party pack don't go nearly as high, but adult supervision is still required. Our kids are under the recommended age of ten, so we let them watch from a safe distance instead of actually setting up and launching the rockets. It still gave us a chance to talk about rocketry and concepts like thrust and trajectory (I'm a math teacher, so it's in my nature to throw those terms around).

The rockets come for every skill level, including ready-to-fly and assembly-required. There are also educactor packs for science teachers to have some out-of-classroom fun! And if rockets aren't your thing, they also sell helicopters, small drones, and planes. If you're interested, you can check out their clearance page to try rocketry out at a good bargain.
