Contest: Idaho Potato Video Contest

The Big Idaho® Potato Truck has announced a new video contest for those who love to be in front of the camera. Tater fans have a chance to win up to $3,000 by sending a short video preparing their favorite Idaho® potato recipe or simply hamming it up in front of the camera with their favorite spud. The first ten people to enter the contest online will receive a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho® potatoes.

CONTEST CATEGORIES
The first category, MASHED! is the Big Idaho® Potato Truck’s take on the hit Food Network show CHOPPED! It provides a delicious outlet for those who love Idaho® potatoes and want to have some fun this summer. The best video will receive $1,000. To enter:
  • Create a potato masterpiece using any ingredients and cooking method you want. The recipe MUST include fresh, frozen and/or dehydrated Idaho® potatoes. (If you really want to impress the judges, pair the versatile vegetable with unlikely ingredients such as chocolate, apples or even mustard.)
  • Record yourself preparing and eating your masterpiece and explain the process.
The second category, Mish Mash, is for those whose talents don’t necessarily shine in the kitchen. There are two-sub-categories – “Anytime/Anywhere” and “At the Truck.”
  • “Anytime/Anywhere” is a catch-all category for unique and imaginative entries showing how you express your spud love. Examples include choreographing a dance, writing a news story, singing a song, or carving an Idaho® potato.
  • “At the Truck” is for those who are lucky enough to see the Big Idaho® Potato Truck live and in-person during the contest period, and are able to film a short video with it and/or the Tater Team that travels with the 6-ton spud.
The videos must not exceed three minutes.

All videos need to be uploaded to a YouTube page and then submitted to https://www.facebook.com/BigIdahoPotatoTour/app/1389938784583783/

If you don’t have a YouTube or Facebook account, please email the video to famousidahopotatoes@gmail.com. Include your full name, mailing address and phone number.

PRIZES
One $1,000 prize will be awarded to the winner of the MASHED! category and two $1,000 prizes will be awarded in the Mish Mash category – one for “Anytime/Anywhere” and one for “At the Truck.”

The first ten online submissions will receive a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho® potatoes.

JUDGING
The videos will be judged 100% on creativity. Six runners up (2 in each category), will receive a swag bag and 15-pound box of fresh Idaho® potatoes. You may submit more than one entry and enter more than one category. However, no two entries can be the same. Submit your videos up until September 2, 2016. Winners will be announced by September 16, 2016.

By entering the contest, entrants agree to assign their intellectual property rights to the IPC and permit the IPC to use the photos in any media, including the Internet, for any purpose whatsoever. Employees of the IPC, the Big Idaho® Potato Truck, its agencies and all others associated with those businesses are not allowed to enter this contest.

About The Idaho Potato Commission
Established in 1937, the IPC is a state agency that is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho®” seal, a federally registered certification mark that assures consumers are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho’s growing season of warm days and cool nights, ample mountain-fed irrigation, and rich volcanic soil give Idaho® potatoes their unique texture, taste and dependable performance, which differentiates them from potatoes grown in other states.

What is The Big Idaho® Potato Truck?
The Big Idaho® Potato Truck travels across the country carrying the world’s largest potato on wheels -- a 28-foot long, 12-foot wide, 11.5-foot tall, 6 ton spud. It was built to celebrate the Idaho Potato Commission’s 75th anniversary in 2012 and was intended to be on the road for one year. However, it was smash hit and today it’s more popular than ever.
