Soul Sustenance: The Women of Easter

I love Liz Curtis Higgs and her way of making the women in the Bible really come alive. I was very excited to review a new book, The Women of Easter. The book looks at the three Marys - Mary of Bethany (sister of Martha, who anointed Jesus' feet), Mary of Nazareth (mother of Jesus), and Mary Magdalene (healed from demons).

As all of the books I've read from her, this book was very well-researched, true to Scripture and historical writings, and yet very appropriate for today. Liz has a knack for drawing parallels between Biblical figures and modern life. She also shows the roles that these three women played in Jesus' life, and how their loyalty, preparation, support, and proclamation are still relevant today.

I highly recommend not only this book, but her other books as well. They are excellent reads, with detail that even lifelong church members might not already know!

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
