My kids both love science, so I was thrilled to review Maker Lab, the award-winning DK book that encourages kids to build, invent, create and discover through 28 DIY science experiments. Experiments include slime, crystal lollipops, volcanoes, and more.
The format of the book is very clear. There's a page that gives a preview of the experiment/activity, and then pages that provide detailed instructions, and easy-to-read list of materials needed, and ample photographs to help make sure things are set up right. The projects are all kid-friendly, with plenty of exciting results (and it's almost impossible not to get results with the projects). The mess is minimal - obviously slime and mild explosions will create mess, but none of the projects left behind things that were impossible to clean. The projects are suitable for older kids to do alone with minimal adult supervision, or for younger kids to do with adult help.
You can see some experiments from the author below.
