Book Nook: The Evaporation of Sofi Snow

I love reading young adult novels, especially ones that are sci-fi fantasy, so I really looked forward to reviewing The Evaporation of Sofi Snow. It's set in a dystopian future where everyone is tracked and corporations rule the world with help from an apparently benevolent alien race.

This book is certainly an interesting book to read. It feels like coming in to a movie that's already been playing, or like starting in book two of a series, but brief flashbacks fill in more of the story as the book progresses. The author doesn't spend a great deal of time on rich character development in the interest of a fast-moving plot with a lot of twists and turns. The book touches on themes of human trafficking, racism, gaming, and virtual reality. There is plenty of action, and even a little bit of romance, coupled with diplomacy, persistence, and quick thinking.

I read the whole book in a morning, I just couldn't put it down with all the activity going on. Honestly the biggest downside of the whole book is that it ends on such a dramatic cliffhanger that I sure hope the author is planning a second installment!
