I recently had the chance to review and interesting memoir by Nadja Spiegelman: I'm supposed to Protect You from all This. It's an intriguing look at family memories through four generations, and how the mother-daughter relationship and personal experience shapes that way we interpret and remember events in our life.
Love is complicated, and this book really highlights that. As Nadja travels in space and in memory, finding out from previous generations, she realizes that the memories of the same event from one generation to the next can be completely contradictory, shaped by what the person needed to remember. It was rich and captivating, filled with candid reflections and sensitivity.
