I love looking at art books for my girls (and sometimes myself) - especially ones that are different, looking at a different skill or having a unique theme. I recently had the chance to check out a few Scratch & Create books available from Quarto. These books come with a specially designed stylus to scratch and personalize a variety of beautiful designs.
It's reminiscent of the black scratch paper that kids love, but all grown up, with much more involved art and more sophisticated subject matter - fun for adults, but still appropriate for kids as well. Adults and kids can learn while doing art with the Amazing Women and Endangered Animals options. For the geometrically declined, there's a Patterns option. Those who like nature can get the Wild Garden, Enchanted Garden or Botanicals books. There's also Hand-Lettering, and several of the books have postcard options, to make it easy to share your art and send personal mail to those you love.
