With the help of Schell Games, The Mall at Robinson will again present a magical, larger-than-life “under the tree” holiday playground experience as part of the tradition of visiting Santa.
Beneath the sparkle and shine of a two-story, custom fabricated holiday tree, Santa’s Lounge “Under the Tree” is an immersive, interactive experience including a photo box, snow globe, musical toys, interactive light up pillows, a train, and a life size magna-doodle custom crafted by Schell Games, a Pittsburgh-based game development company with over 100 employees. “Everything is touchable and meant to be played with,” said the company’s CEO Jesse Schell. “Children can revel in an enchanting experience filled with holiday magic before their visit with Santa.”
The Mall at Robinson’s new two-story holiday tree was created by Chicago Scenic Studios, a Chicago-based firm specializing in scenic assembly, automation, theatrics and innovative experiences. According to design partner David Warfel, the holiday playground under the tree creates a single memorable celebration of the holiday season for Santa’s visitors.
The new experience not only reaches new heights in holiday fun, it contributes to a timeless holiday tradition with Santa Claus at The Mall at Robinson – where thousands visit annually to spend treasured moments. Santa’s Lounge transforms the experience by giving families a comfortable place where children and adults alike can play and relax for 15 minutes before their turn with Santa, reducing time in line.
The enhanced Santa experience also includes a Virtual Line where guests can choose to explore the mall, grab a treat or relax before their visit. Guests will be given an estimated wait time and can monitor their place in the virtual line. A text will be sent to families when it is their turn to play under the tree and visit with Santa. Pre-paid online reservations will also be accepted before December 20, 2017.
Many offer unwavering affirmation that real Santa Claus is right here - in Pittsburgh - at The Mall at Robinson. And that’s exactly where thousands will find him beginning Friday, November 11 until he packs up and takes flight for his big night on December 24.
Just ask him to see his driver’s license and you’ll get all the evidence you need. Santa Claus will reveal his official license issued by the state of Colorado, noting his summer address in Fort Collins. But from November 10 through December 24, the real proof is a matter of the heart. Here, Santa Claus speaks seven languages, including American sign, and has a particularly beautiful rapport with children who have special needs.
