VidAngel, an entertainment app owned by 8,000 American families, empowers parents to filter language, nudity, violence, and other mature content from movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO. Through VidAngel Studios, the company also offers clean, uplifting original content like Dry Bar Comedy and now, The Chosen.
Well-known inspirational Director Dallas Jenkins released the Christmas-themed pilot episode of The Chosen—the first-ever scripted TV show about the life of Jesus—for free both on VidAngel and in social media to see if fans would be interested in potentially backing the project. The Chosen has amassed interest in the project with indications of interest of more than $5 million.
“It’s been gratifying to see the impact the project is having, as the high number of views, shares, comments, and interest in backing us indicate that people share my desire to see the stories of Christ in the same way we watch other shows,” said Dallas Jenkins, Director of The Chosen. “The pilot episode is a story of the first Christmas, so the timing makes sense for churches to use it for their Christmas services, and we’re letting them do it for free,”said Dallas Jenkins, Director of The Chosen.
The Chosen Productions, using the resources of distributor VidAngel, has launched a campaign to gauge the potential public interest in investing in The Chosen. Directed by Dallas Jenkins, the series is spearheaded byExecutive Producer Matthew Faraci, known for Dove Channel’s Frankly Faraci and Heavenquest: A Pilgrim’s Progress, and Executive Producer Derral Eves, a leading social media expert who has helped generate 24 billion views of content on YouTube and is founder of VidSummit, the leading professional conference for social media creators.
