Music Minute: Shawn Colvin - The Starlighter

GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin recently released a new animated music video for the song "Minnie And Winnie," from her forthcoming Amazon Original album The Starlighter

"It's kind of a throwback in time," says Colvin. "I wanted a lot of color and for it to be rich and beautiful. This will give children a chance to have a visual reference to the pictures they might be seeing in their head as they listen to the songs." The Starlighter is a collection of songs adapted from the children's music book "Lullabies and Night Songs" and will be released on February 23rd via Amazon Music.

The Starlighter will be released exclusively for purchase on Amazon Music and streaming through Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music. Pre-order for the album is now available at www.amazon.com/thestarlighter, and fans will immediately be able to stream and download the title track from the album, “The Starlighter.”

Colvin previously released a video for the album's title track via Rolling Stone. More music videos will be coming soon!

Both videos are based on Victorian paper theatres and the illustration style of children’s books from the same era, and were created by the Manchester, UK/Los Angeles-based motion design studio WeFail. Each scene contains more than 100 layered illustrations, and every element in the video was drawn using a digital tablet before being animated by hand. Shawn Colvin’s character in the video consists of 30 individual hand-drawn pieces, each digitally painted before motion design was applied to create the complete figure.

In other news, the album just won a "Hot Diggity Award," and the title track is enjoying rotation on radio shows nationwide.
