Book Nook: Harper and the Night Forest

My daughter loves fantasy stories and as a family we like music, so I was eager to review Harper and the Night Forest. In the story, Harper is looking for the Ice Raven, rumored to have such a beautiful song it will melt even the hardest of hearts. The Wild Conductor wants to keep the Ice Raven to create the most beautiful orchestra ever. Harper faces a dilemma - should this magical creature be captured?

Although this book is the third in a series, it works by itself as well. Like any good series, though, it captured my daughter's imagination and she now wants to find the other books in the series. It was a well-written book, with beautiful descriptions, intrigue and suspense, and a thoughtful dilemma. The strong female character and musical theme really appealed to my kids, although it's not so girly that boys won't be able to enjoy it as well.
