I recently read a book with a unique take - Babies Made Us Modern: How Infants Brought America into the Twentieth Century.
The premise of the book is that the act of reproduction inspired us to make advanced in health, nutrition, technology, and more - all to ensure the survival and development of these little ones.
Author Janet Golden explains how parents became more accepting of psychological research, scientific theories, and even government programs. She explores the effect of privatization, cultural traditions, and religions practices, and the many factors that shape how we raise our kids.
The book was intriguing. It was very informative without being dry and boring. The book is clearly well-researched, and it's a great read for anyone who is interested in the development of babies and society.
