I recently had a chance to review Top Choice, an intriguing young adult novel.
Alice Kearns is a future leader in a female-led regime that her family fought to establish. She's on the top in a society where women are expected to achieve great things and run the world. With all the pressure on her, she's grateful she finally is allowed into Choice Clubs. These clubs were created to keep girls from getting distracted by providing an outlet in the form of music, drinks, and flirty guys with no commitment.
Then she meets Tag. He's nicer and smarter than Ali expects, but he also leads a double life as part of a rebel group who wants to overthrow the female-dominated society.
It's interesting to read. On the one hand, thinking of women in charge isn't all that bad - after all, women are fighting for equality right now, and that's a good thing. The problem is in the way it's obtained - and that's food for thought in this nove
l, with an intriguing ending that shows that Alice has learned from both her cunning family and those who would destroy its reign.
