Caring Causes: Amazon and No Kid Hungry

Amazon surprised students at Eagle Creek Elementary School Thursday with a celebration event to kick off its enhanced breakfast program. Associates from the Shakopee fulfillment center will help deliver bananas and engage students in fun activities to emphasize the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast.

Research shows that students who eat a good breakfast perform better and have improved behavior in the classroom. Yet, of the number of low-income students that qualify for free breakfast, only half actually receive the meal.

This is the first of 20 events planned across the country aimed to address this discrepancy. Through a partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, Amazon is providing 100 school grants to bring breakfast into the classroom. The support is expected to help deliver over 3.1 million breakfasts to more than 29,000 students across the country and is a part of Amazon’s fight against hunger.
