Book Nook: Art Kits

My daughter loves art and loves that I get to review art books. I recently had the chance to review an art kit. The best part about art kits is that everything is included, which makes them great gifts for artists of all levels (and especially for beginning artists who might not have a great deal of supplies.

Quarto Publishing recently published several different art kits:

Everything You Need to Stitch 12 Natural Designs
Includes an embroidery hoop, three sheets of iron-on transfer, two needles, two pieces of white cotton fabric, and ten colors of floss.

12 Patterns of the World's Finest Masterpieces
Includes an embroidery hoop, two pieces of Aida fabric, twelve colors of floss, and a needle.

Create Beautiful Tiles for Display or Use
Includes four ceramic tiles, six colorful markers, one pipette, one foam brush, clear coating, and protective felt feet.

10 Hip and Stylish Wall Décor Projects for Your Home
Includes 50 sheets of colorful origami paper, plus twine to make two chic projects.

Create Irresistible Art Using Glue and Watercolors
Includes four pre-printed watercolor sheets, two watercolor paintbrushes, white glue, and your own set of 12 watercolor paints.
I had a chance to review the last one in the list, and was really happy with it. I had never thought of the idea of glue-resist painting, and although it's something that doesn't require a great deal of specialized materials (most people have watercolors, glue, and paint brushes), it was nice to have some fresh supplies. It was easy for my daughter to make pieces of art that looked really good, and it was great for her to learn a technique that she can easily use again in the future.
At $22 and $25 a kit, these are an easily affordable gift for budding artists!
