Book Nook: Secret Scouts and the Lost Leonardo

I enjoy encouraging my kids to read books where kids solve problems - and it's a bonus if my daughters learn something along the way. Secret Scouts and The Lost Leonardo combines the adventure and fun of The Goonies with the intrigue and historical influence of The Da Vinci Code for a book that has the perfect level of suspense for a young reader (but was also interesting for me as an adult).

The book plays on a variety of historical truths - Leonardo's inventions that were centuries ahead of his time, his "invisible angel" in "The Annunciation," a lost Leonardo painting behind a mural in the Palazzo Vecchio, and the apparent appearance of an iPhone in a Leonardo painting. It weaves these into an incredible tale of time travel and intrigue, one that keeps readers eager to the very end.

DENNIS and WENDEL KIND are a husband and wife duo with a passion for educational storytelling. Being parents themselves, they form a unique writing duo for children’s literature. They write from their home in Amsterdam where they live with their three young children. Fun fact about the authors: their last name “Kind” means “Child” in Dutch—so it’s no surprise their genre is children’s literature! They have been interviewed many times on TV and given presentations at children’s schools and libraries, and they love working with younger generations.
