Consumer Critique: Gixo

I recently had a chance to review Gixo, a revolutionary fitness app that aims to get people moving with fun, LIVE group fitness classes from the convenience of your own home or on-the-go. It's a great gift for moms who might want a gym membership but also need childcare during workouts, frequent travelers who want to be able to workout wherever they are, or people who are intimidated by the idea of going to a gym and working out with others.

Gixo has classes for everyone - from the very beginners to those with a high level of fitness. It's a great way to try something new as well. There are live classes offered at various times of day, plus hundreds of stored workouts that can be accessed on demand. The classes are run by certified personal trainers and include walking or running workouts, yoga, and strength training.

What sets it apart?
  • Gixo’s live workouts facilitate two-way communication between personal trainer and class participant -- just like being in a live studio class

  • People can ask the trainers questions before, during, and after workouts
  • People can let their trainers know about any injuries or other needs at the beginning of class so the trainer can modify the workout in real time
  • For indoor classes, people can turn on the phone on their camera so the coach can actually see them and can offer modifications and corrections on form

Gixo is less expensive than most gym memberships, at $179.99 for a year or $19.99/month. It's available on iTunes or Android.
