Book Nook: Borrowed Eyes and Feet - Finding Enlightenment After Rage

Weaving at times heart-wrenching personal stories with words of wisdom from thought leaders like Ram Dass, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay and more, Corner has created a tapestry of anger and love, denial and acceptance, blame and forgiveness. Borrowed Eyes and Feet is a book that can alter your view and change your life.

I had a chance to interview him to learn more.

Why did you decide to write this book? I was tired of being angry and afraid. Afraid of people judging me, afraid of not being good enough. It got to a point at which I knew something had to change. I felt too much anger for far too long. I deeply desired to understand “Why?” and find another way.
Every moment I sat down to write this book, that same question fired through my mind: “Why write this story?” More often than I’d like to admit, I told myself I would not publish it.
Those who I shared the manuscript with were astonished and appreciative of me sharing this story. For they themselves never knew my story. Although, they could relate or knew a loved one who could relate to my pain. Then people started showing up in my life thanking me for sharing my fears and vulnerabilities.
At that point I knew I had to write it. I felt that if I could help at least one person by sharing my story, then I knew it was a good decision.

Can you explain a little bit about the title? The title of the book manifested during a morning meditation on December 2, 2016. I pondered the meaning for quite some time before deciding to capture it in words.
To this day I contemplate these words in search of a deeper meaning. When I think I have it all figured out, something magical reveals itself and I return to a search for meaning once again.
In my quest to understand the symbolism and the meaning of eyes and of feet, I found various interpretations which are reflected in the book. The eyes represent seeing the world clearly and my decision to change how I viewed the world, the people and the things in it. The feet represent the ability to move forward in life, leaving my anger, doubt and self-hatred behind. Before, I was stuck because my fears and anger prevented me from loving and seeing the world as it truly is.

Why is it so important to release anger about the past? I will start off with the following question for you to ponder; ‘Do things create our thoughts or do our thoughts create things?’
It is a belief that who we are today is influenced by our past experiences and our thoughts about our past. These thoughts impact and influence who we become and what we do, or don’t do.
In Chapter 3, I refer to the ‘mosh pit of your mind.’ If you have been in a mosh pit at rock concert it can be very scary, violent and high energy. Imagine thousands of people in attendance ‘moshing’ around in the pit.
Our minds process over fifty thousand thoughts a day. These thoughts jump around the ‘mosh pit of our minds’ to create our actions or inactions, decisions or indecisions.
What if these thoughts are negative, self-defeating, rage filled, self-sabotaging thoughts? What do you think life will be like?
If we shift our thoughts to positive thoughts, affirmations, thoughts promoting love, healing, self-acceptance, acceptance of others, abundance, forgiveness and more, what do you think life will be like?
Love is the way. Love is our strength.
