You may have heard of ABCmouse, an educational website for young kids. We used it for a while when my girls were younger, and it's honestly one of the better early education websites I've seen. We limited screen time when my girls were young, and ABCmouse was one of the sites we allowed them to use. Even when they were a little more advanced than the target education level, they still would sign in sometimes to be able to do some of the games and spend their tickets on personalizing their hamster cage or house.
Age of Learning, their parent company, recently launched ReadingIQ. I had a chance to review a trial of this website/app, and it really has a lot of features that make it great for kids and also appealing for their parents.
ReadingIQ is just $4.99 per month - about the cost of one average ebook (cheaper than the cost of many ebooks). The library contains over a thousand books, so even if your kid is an avid reader like mine are, it would take them a really long time to get through everything. It's rated child safe, which means there are no ads and no way for kids to access inappropriate content.
The interface also makes it easy to look for books. You can search by categories like animals & plants, music & art, the world of work, and more. You can also specifically look for books by National Geographic (which my older daughter loves to do). If you have kids that are at a specific reading level, you can look by grade level, guided reading level, or Lexile (your teacher can help you determine which level is right if you aren't sure).
It's a great resource for convenience, and a good value for the sheer amount of books available. There is such a big variety that any reader is sure to find something they'll like!
