If you're someone who likes embellishing your writing, or enjoys doodling on the edges of letters, you might be interested in a new book I got to review, A Dangle A Day: Lettering & Designs with Charms for Every Season by Angela Porter.
This is a fun book. I'm not terribly artistic but I was still able to follow this book to create some fun embellishments. My daughter loved it and put it into practice right away with a letter to her pen pal.
Embellishments can make anything more fancy - it's even fun to have a pretty to-do list. It's really appropriate for letters, journals, and scrapbooks, and also adds a fun touch to invitations. It's a lot more personal than using someone else's art.
Angela Porter is a self-taught artist who finds inspiration in nature, especially ammonite and other fossils. Much of her work is abstract with flowing lines, shapes, and colors that create textured and detailed artworks. She works with technical drawing pens, watercolors, inks, colored pencils, and metallic paints and pens. She lives in South Wales.
