Healthy Habits: MS MindShift - A New View of MS

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a progressive disease that can cause lesions in the central nervous system, including the spinal cord and brain, disrupting the flow of information from the brain to the body. While most people have heard of the disease, many aren’t aware of its causes, symptoms, and what it’s like to live with MS. To combat this lack of knowledge, Celgene has launched MS MindShift: A New View of MS, which takes a new perspective on MS. The campaign aims to educate about the critical role the brain plays in the disease and what people living with MS can do to keep their brain as healthy as possible, for as long as possible.

Did you know?
  • World MS Day is May 30, 2019, shortly after the campaign launch
  • MS affects nearly 1 million people in the U.S.
  •  MS is most commonly diagnosed in people between ages 20 and 50
  • MS is at least two to three times more common in women than in men
Dr. Barry Singer, a neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis, appears in this interview to talk more about MS, the symptoms, how it affects those living with the disease and the importance of brain preservation.

He discusses the importance of spreading awareness about MS through Celgene's MS MindShift campaign and its local events which feature the MS MindShift “Brain Bulb”.

The “Brain Bulb” is a hot air balloon which is used as a way to literally elevate the importance of having a “brain first” perspective on MS. Shifting your focus up toward the brain today could change how you live with MS tomorrow.
