Book Nook: New Art Books from Dover

Summer is a great time to check out arts and craft ideas, especially for families who have kids with more free time. Dover has some intriguing books available.

First of all, from the Creative Haven series, there are two new installments: Tranquility and Entangled Forests. Both look beautiful and engaging for adult or older kids to color.

I had a chance to review two other books from the Make in a Day series. The first was Wedding Crafts. This wasn't the right book for me. I loved reading it and looking at the pictures and even getting some ideas, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to get things together just right - although my daughter could, and has some of them bookmarked for gifts later this year. The crafts could be used either as decorations for the wedding, gifts to the wedding part from the bride and groom, or gifts to give a new couple. The pictures make it easy to visualize the projects and the steps are all very clearly lade out. The other one was directed at kids, with kid-friendly crafts, appealing pictures, and no hard-to-find supplies. With ample pictures and clear instructions, most kids would have no problem creating cute crafts with this book.
