Catholic Central, Family Theater Production’s internet series focused on faith and fun, received two Gabriel Awards June 20 at the Catholic Media Conference. It was presented with first- and second-place awards in two different categories at the international competition sponsored by the Catholic Press Association.
The series offers entertaining and authoritative answers to questions about Catholic thought, spirituality and practice. Catholic Central entertains, enlightens and inspires through a collection of free online videos created by a team of witty writers, appealing hosts and learned theologians. Executive producer is Father David L. Guffey, C.S.C., and producer is Mary Ashley Burton.
At the Gabriel Awards, three episodes of Catholic Central – “The Mass,” “Catholic Dating” and “Life After Life” – won first place in the Best Internet Video: Teen Specific category. In addition, “The Mass” placed second in the Best Internet Video category.
The series can be found at www.CatholicCentral.com. Each 2-8 minute episode explores a topic related to Catholic faith, spirituality and practice using humor, graphics and sound theology. The series is aimed at teens but has been used in youth groups, RCIA classes and by homeschoolers.
Catholic Central is part of the ministry founded by sainthood candidate Venerable Patrick Peyton. Father Peyton established Family Rosary and Family Theater Productions to inspire, promote and foster the prayer life and spiritual well-being of the family. Those ministries and others are now part of Holy Cross Family Ministries.
