Working from home give me a really good edge but there may be difficulties along the way and here are my suggestions on how you can handle it based on my experience and get started working from home like a pro:
1. Assign your workspace.
When you decided to work from home, it wouldn't mean that you will work on your bed. Yes, you can do that but not for 8 hours if you plan to do an online full-time job. You must designate a space in your home wherein you get to have privacy so you can focus on the things you must do. What were trying to avoid here are distractions that will just prolong your operation hours.
Another benefit of having your own office space at home is you may look professional to your clients that whenever you have a conference with them, they will see only get to see and hear you not your tv or kids playing or shouting.
2. Choose your working hours wisely.
Choose to work during your free time. If you're a mom and have small ones, choose and get projects that will have the flexibility to work anytime so you can do it whenever your kids are sleeping.
There are many jobs out there that would let you work whenever you are available to do so. Be an online teacher, digital marketer or content writer name it, there are hundreds of it posted out there in freelancing websites such as Upwork.com or Hubstaff.com.
You must also consider not to push yourself too far, especially if you got a toddler. Remember you may also have to get a good sleep to take care of them in the morning.
3. Turn off or keep away from your mobile phone
Now you're starting to work our only goal is to submit your deliverables and finish it on time.
One way to avoid interruptions is by keeping your phone on silent mode or turn it off, just like working in an office. You know the reason why right? Our mobile phones are the top source of distraction. Keep it off from you and I'm sure you'll finish all tasks so soon.
Being a freelancer gives me so much freedom and flexibility. I enjoyed it at most and happy enough that I can do all these, doing the mommy duties and managing our finances. It may look easy at the first but when you're already on it you'll realize how hard it could be. You can easily manage these challenges by being systematic. Plan your day, learn to prioritize tasks, have a positive attitude towards work and be thankful because not everyone was blessed to get a job like yours.
