Caring Causes: Steller Kindness Project/Simpson Housing

In honor of World Kindness Day, A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD partnered with The Steller Kindness Project to host a “Red Bag” event on behalf of the film. The partnership kicked off recently at a special advance screening of the film at the Alamo Drafthouse Twin Cities. The Steller Kindness Project stuffed 143 red bags with winter necessities to be distributed to those in need on behalf of A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. To accompany the red bags, attendees at the screening had a chance to write out Kindness Cards to bring joy to bag recipients.

On November 25, The Steller Kindness Project will deliver the red bags to Simpson Housing and provide free haircuts & portraits to those in need.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD opens in theaters everywhere on November 22.

ABOUT A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBOORHOOD
Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about kindness, love and forgiveness from America’s most beloved neighbor. www.abeautifulday.movie

ABOUT STELLER KINDESS PROJECT
The Steller Kindness Project is a platform to share stories of quiet acts of kindness. We want to celebrate people who are positively impacting others, sometimes without even realizing it. This project is meant to inspire. We believe that if we want to see macro changes in our word, it needs to start on a micro level. It starts with showing up and being kind to the person right in front of you. https://stellerkindnessproject.com/

ABOUT SIMPSON HOUSINGSimpson Housing Services began as an emergency overnight shelter in the basement of Simpson United Methodist Church in 1982. Simpson has since become a leading nonprofit providing assistance to people experiencing homelessness. In response to unmet community needs, our programs have grown to include emergency shelter, single adult supportive housing, and family supportive housing. We work across the metro area, partnering with landlords and developers to find affordable housing for all families and individuals. At any given time, we provide supportive services to 100 individuals and 210 families with over 500 children. https://www.simpsonhousing.org/
