Book Nook: Mo's Bows - A Young Person's Guide to Startup Success

My daughter is currently really motivated by the idea of starting her own business. My other daughter is very craft and good at putting things together. So I was intrigued at the chance to review Mo's Bows: A Young Person's Guide to Startup Success.

Moziah Bridges appeared on Shark Tank at 9 to promote his bow ties. Since then, his fashion sense has carried him quite far. The book shares how the process worked for him, and then how other people can find their path to success by creating a business around their passion.

I liked the tone of this book - it's not aimed at adults, but at kids, and encourages them to work with what they have to reach their goals. He shares how he at times had to adapt (for example, when he wanted to alter the school uniform), and how kids can too. It's well-written and encouraging, and has really inspired my kids to go after their own business plan.

Moziah Bridges is the seventeen-year-old CEO of Mo’s Bows Bow Ties. His bow ties have been carried in Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and on Home Shopping Network. He’s created bow ties for the NBA and for President Obama and was named one of Time Magazine‘s 30 Most Influential Teens and Fortune‘s 18 under 18. He lives and works in Memphis, Tennessee.

Tramica Morris is president and cofounder of Mo’s Bows Handmade Bow Ties. Morris also manages her son, teen entrepreneur and fashion designer Moziah Bridges. She believes there is a Mo’s Bows idea and concept in every household, so in 2018 she launched the nonprofit organization The Mo’s Bows Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to mentor, encourage, and empower young entrepreneurs. Morris enjoys traveling with family, dancing, bike riding, all things vintage, and community outreach.
