Caring Causes: Salonpas and NYC Healthcare Heroes

Hisamitsu America is once again proud to announce that May 18, 2020 is “Salonpas® Day” which signals a day free from pain from the world leader in medicinal pain patches.   While this day has been traditionally celebrated by passing out free samples to the public, this year, as the ‘new normal’ has dramatically shifted, the company has donated over 40,000 Salonpas Pain Relief Patch LARGE patches to “NYC Healthcare Heroes,” a city-wide philanthropic program launched with a $20 million donation by the Debra and Leon Black Family in partnership with Aramark, the world’s largest U.S.-based provider of food, facilities and uniforms, to support  over 100,000 New York City healthcare professionals on the front lines combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program – launched in partnership with the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, Robin Hood, New York City’s largest poverty fighting organization, and the American Red Cross – is providing “NYC Healthcare Heroes” packages of shelf-stable food, household cleaning and personal care products, as well as over-the-counter medicine including the Salonpas Pain Relief Patches, to staff at hospitals across the five boroughs through June, alleviating the burden of having to shop for themselves and their families. In coordination with Aramark, which is donating labor to provide procurement, assembly and delivery services, Red Cross volunteers are distributing the packages to hospital staff.

“We are honored to be a part of this ‘NYC Healthcare Heroes’ initiative and to help ease the pain of New York City’s medical heroes who serve so bravely on the front lines,” said John Incledon, President, Hisamitsu America, the marketers of Salonpas®, the world’s number one pain patch brand.
