Home fitness is the right option for many of us, especially now when we’re forced inside due to coronavirus. With that said, some exercises can be a little noisy. If you live in an apartment, this could cause issues between you and your neighbors.

Instead of deciding that you either have to settle for high-impact exercises outdoors or that you just can’t get a satisfying workout, you need to look for exercises that create less noise. The key to this is sticking to low-impact exercises.

With the following tips and a good pair of supportive shoes, you can create a good home workout routine that won’t disturb your neighbors.

Stretching and Flexibility
Stretching is low-impact by its nature, so you shouldn’t have any problems here. Stretching exercises will help you maintain your flexibility and you should also plan for a stretching routine to prepare your body for other workouts like strength training and cardio. Some good stretches to start with are the hamstring stretch, a triceps stretch, the butterfly stretch, knee to chest stretching and some quad stretching. You could also look to yoga stretches to build and maintain flexibility.

Cardio
Trying to be quiet during cardio can be difficult because many of the best exercises require a lot of quick movement. With that said, you can find useful cardio exercises that don’t make a lot of noise. Marching in place and other step exercises can work well, but you do need to be mindful of how hard you place your feet back on the ground. As an alternative, you could also consider air cycling as a way to get cardio without the impact.
Strength Training
Strength training is another area where it should not be too hard to get a good workout without creating a lot of noise. Exercises like push-ups and triceps dips can work well for your upper body. You could also use different plank variations to build upper body strength and workout your core. For working out your legs, you should try exercises like bodyweight squats, heel raises and lunges. If you want to expand on your strength training options, you should consider getting a set of dumbbells or some resistance bands.
Pilates
Pilates exercises are low-impact by design, so they are great for working out in an apartment. These exercises are good for building strength and flexibility, and they are really good for functional fitness. If you are working yourself hard with strength training or cardio, Pilates can be perfect for your rest days. With these exercise tips, you can build a full-body workout that does not make a lot of noise. This way, you can still get fit without making your neighbors crazy.
