The news lately has been filled with doom and gloom. Yet the story of Tangianna Saint Aleis is one of inspiration. A successful financial expert, she started noticing issues with her vision. It wasn’t just a need for glasses, it was hydrocephalus fluid in the brain. Doctors did not believe she would live. But she did and she had made a vow that if she did she would give up her old life and pursue her dream of writing and she has just completed her first book, Calm in the Calamity.
I had a chance to interview her to learn more about her story.
Why did you write this book?
I wrote Calm in Calamity to inspire others. To tell everyone to travel and trust your journey in good faith. Everyone faces obstacles but you have to know when to riot and know when to find your strength and be silent. Whether that’s in prayer, meditation or therapy.
How does tan incident like you went through inspire people to make changes?
I want to bring smiles, optimism and real information to my readers. To be confident, respect and believe in their existence. God didn’t make a mistake; you all are awesome!
Did you find yourself becoming more religious and praying more?
I had a very religious upbringing. I’m talking Thursday I’d sit in on bible study and adult choir rehearsal, Saturday was my children’s and teen choir rehearsal and Sunday church started at 8am with bible study well into 7pm with the Sunday night broadcast. It was a lot growing up and I enjoyed it. However, experience and time introduced me into a lot of Sunday Saints and by Monday they ain’t. The spirit of God is with in and to draw near to him in prayer is something I’ve always done now with much more understanding and faith.
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
A fun ride! I want them to know the sun shines on everyone! Whether you’re black, white, biracial, tall, stout, have gout, disabled, speech impediment, Muslim, Christian,Jewish And so on;go out into the world and make your dreams a reality!
