While Guinness World Records title holders continue to accomplish extraordinary, record-breaking feats, it is not every day that you see a record attempt focused entirely on spreading kindness.
Crayon Collection, the nonprofit that supports teachers, the environment, and arts education by collecting and donating gently used crayons, is hosting a groundbreaking Kindness Event (virtually) on August 15, 2020 at 11am PST / 2pm EST.
Inspired by the incredible work of frontline workers, participants will join the Crayon Collection YouTube channel for the live-streamed event and together will draw or write a note of kindness to share uplifting messages to doctors, nurses and other essential workers. The notes will then be distributed to local hospitals and organizations.
Their efforts will also result in an official attempt for the Guinness World Records title of the most handwritten notes uploaded to Instagram in one hour.
Confirmed live stream guests include:
- Sheila Morovati, Crayon Collection Founder and President for Opening Remarks
- LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to share a few words.
- Oliver Jeffers, illustrator of best-selling children’s book; The Day the Crayons Quit
- Dr. Nina Shapiro of UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital
- Joe Whale aka “Doodle Boy” as featured kid artist
- Drew Daywalt, author’s reading of The Day the Crayons Quit
- Christina Flounders-Conlon, Official Guinness World Records Adjudicator
Crayon Collection is no stranger to record-breaking activities. In 2018, they achieved a Guinness World Records title for Most crayons donated to charity in 8 hours with over one million crayons!
