To honour the birth of his grandson Evan, hypnotherapist Chris Evans has put pen to paper to craft volume one of the new ‘Evan and Friends’ series of children’s books, which harks back to a bygone era of storytelling with proper characters, pure adventure, fun and moral-rich stories that will stimulate any child’s natural development.
Book one, ‘Evan and Friends meet an Ancient King’ takes a trip to Wales…
Synopsis:
This first book tells of Evan and friends in Wales, whilst on a trip with Evan’s parents. Playing in the woods they come across a very old cottage. They venture inside and make a discovery that leads them to a witch, a wizard and a dragon. But was it all a dream? Well, read the book and you will find out.
“This is the first of what will eventually be six books,” explains the author. “Each is based on the traditional literary model of well-developed, positive characters who use their wit and tenacity to achieve the impossible. The world needs more stories like these, to help children fire up their imaginations and grow through initiative, visualisation and a desire to learn about the world around them. I love my grandson Evan so much, and hope these books make him proud.”
Continuing, “The project is also a vital fundraising tool for the Demelza Children’s Hospice in Kent, who care for around 750 children and their families at what is so obviously a tragic and difficult time. By purchasing a book you are not only helping a child in your own life, but many children you don’t know. I hope the series continues to sell well for many years, as the hospice is one of the county’s most important organisations.”
As a qualified hypnotherapist and career teacher, Chris knows better than most that until the age of 8 or 9 children’s conscious mind has not fully developed. It is therefore vital that they are encouraged as much as possible to help that development through visualisation and the use of their imagination. Children’s television seems to have lost that power.

About the Author:
Chris lives in Kent with his Wife Caroline and their dog Taffy. Having initially graduated in English and Drama, most of this working life has been spent in education. He has taught at all levels from primary school to pre-master qualification
His first love has been helping children of primary age both in the classroom and outside. He was Chairman of Governors of a primary school for 10 years. In his spare time sport has played a large part in his life. Having played rugby at a high level, when serious injury prevented further participation, he played football once again at a high standard. He is a qualified football referee and a Welsh Rugby Union Coach. He uses this qualification to pass on his love of the game and to introduce it into primary schools to aid in teaching young children discipline and team work.
This is the first of a series of books to help children discover the joy of books and reading and to fill a much needed gap in providing a medium to encourage the development of visualisation and imagination at the most important period of their lives.
Proceeds from each copy sold will be donated to Demelza Children’s Hospice in Kent, so the organisation can continue their life-changing work.
