Amazing Apps: Kinspire

 

Kinspire, a new startup with a mission to support families in real-world play and activities, today launched its free flagship app, Kinspire. Available on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store and featuring hundreds of kid-tested, screen-free activities from educators and parents, the Kinspire app seeks to solve one of today’s biggest parenting challenges: how do we balance our children’s screen time with offline learning and play?

The newly launched app includes more than 350 ideas created by a community of real parents and teachers, as well as regularly updated STEAM-based activities from Wow in the World’s new Tinkerclass. Kinspire is designed for all kinds of educational settings: remote school, in-person, hybrid, homeschool, daycare, microschools, unschools, and informal learning.   Kinspire is based on early childhood education precepts like fostering children’s innate spirit of invention through their natural curiosity, as well as multigenerational participation and togetherness. Created by parents, designers, and technologists, Kinspire is a thoughtfully designed digital gateway to real-world connection and exploration, leveraging the ubiquity and utility of a smartphone to facilitate child-led, meaningful, active learning at home and school. The idea is: “go online to go offline.”

Among a wide range of easy-to-start, screen-free activities from top educators and activity creators, Kinspire features the brand-new Tinkerclass from Wow in the World, the #1 podcast for kids. Tinkerclass combines STEAM activities with episodes of Wow in the World, hosted by Mindy Thomas and Guy Raz. For completing activities (think creative and scientific projects, pretend play, nature explorations, building, gross motor play, cooking, math, music, mindfulness) kids get digital and real-life rewards. Families challenge each other to add their “Kinspirations,” unique twists on activities.
