Book Nook: A Little Spark
I recently had the chance to review A Little Spark, a unique book that incorporates more than just the words and illustrations on the page.
Two years ago, Chris Parsons left the high-tech business world behind to focus on his true passion and life mission of creating meaningful experiences for children. As a father, he felt strongly that by utilizing engaging stories, reading and music, children can be encouraged to “Be That Spark” and do amazing things with their little lives. The book was just chosen to receive a "Mom's Choice Book Award" and is made extra special by the incorporation of QR codes that link to songs and videos. Adults can read it to kids, or kids can read the text alone.
Spark, the brave young mouse, and Daniel, a fireless fire-breathing dragon, travel through a freezing world with an enemy to conquer. Age-appropriate action, fantasy and humor are woven throughout the story. The book encourages kindness, bravery, forgiveness (with just enough evil to allow for important lessons).
The book aims to embolden children to act with kindness by teaching the following: don’t judge others too quickly, friends look after friends, everyone deserves a second chance, the importance of believing in yourself, and many more!
