Caring Causes: Exploratorium (San Francisco) Gifts

The Exploratorium is pleased to share its 2020 Holiday Gift Guide: a curated collection of unique gadgets, tinkering items, games, and books that focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and math—STEAM topics. The Gift Guide consists of recommendations for all ages, from toddlers to pre-adolescents to adults.

All purchases made through the store support the Exploratorium’s mission to create educational experiences and transform learning worldwide. The museum has been closed since March amid the pandemic, and purchases made on its online store will help the nonprofit institution recover and reopen.

Patrons can now shop at the Exploratorium Store online and enjoy free curbside pickup. Orders are ready within 3 hours for contactless, curbside pickup at Pier 15 in San Francisco, Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Customers can also schedule a 30-minute virtual personal shopping appointment with an Exploratorium Store staff member, who will provide them with personalized gift recommendations.

Museum Memberships  make  great gifts, and are another way to support the science museum. Memberships offer a year-long, unlimited access to the Exploratorium and will be activated once the museum reopens.

On November 29, don't miss the fourth consecutive Museum Store Sunday, a one-day-only, inspired shopping event dedicated to supporting cultural institutions and museum stores across the country and around the world. Founded by the Museum Store Association (MSA), the event and shopping campaign occurrs annually the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and promotes consumers and museum visitors to intentionally contribute to the sustainability and success of cultural institutions.

About the Exploratorium

The Exploratorium is a portal to the astonishing scientific phenomena that animate our world and shape our actions. We create extraordinary learning experiences that ignite curiosity, upend perceptions, and inspire brave leaps forward. Since 1969, the Exploratorium’s museum at Pier 15 in San Francisco has been home to a renowned collection of exhibits that draw together science, art, and human perception, and that have helped change the way science is taught. Our award-winning programs provide a forum for the public to engage with artists, scientists, policy-makers, educators, and tinkerers to explore the world around them. We celebrate diversity of thought, inspired investigation, and collaboration across all boundaries.
