CBD: Your Partner in Wellness (Guest Post)

Source

CBD totally stole the spotlight in the wellness and beauty industry. CBD as we commonly call it is the short name for cannabidiol. It is one of more than a hundred compounds found in the cannabis plant.

There are so many people who immediately fell in love with CBD products. Who wouldn't? CBD is used in various health conditions to help alleviate cancer pains and symptoms, anti acne and anti ageing, curb anxiety and depressions, stress relief and secures quality of sleep and so many more. Unlike THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, a well known cannabis plant compound as well, CBD is non-psychoactive . You would not get high by taking CBD.

CBD for Wellness

In the past couple of years, the CBD industry has skyrocketed in its sales. It has grown and it continuously evolves and improves. This caused a dramatic increase in awareness and interest of different retailers and companies who would like to jump into the train of CBD. This also caused some scenes even abroad.

By 2025, it is estimated that the CBD industry will reach around $22 billion in global market shares.

Much of this development could be attributed to CBD’s status as a wellness product.

CBD captured the hearts of its market through its therapeutic benefits. Cannabidiol is being used as an alternative or supplementary treatment for headaches, arthritis pains, depression, sleeping disorder, and even skin problems.

CBD Milestone

The interest of the market in CBD magnified when Epidiolex got FDA approval, a medicine which consisted mainly of CBD extracted from cannabis plants. This is now a prescription medication to manage a rare and severe form of epilepsy. It has surpassed the other well established anti-seizure medications.

One of the testimonies for medicinal usage of CBD was the case of Charlotte Figi. This little girl started experiencing seizures at three months old as she was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that starts in infancy. She was experiencing more than a hundred seizures per day at the age of 5. The doctors said that there are no more left to try pharmaceutically to help ease the seizures. Her mother then decided to seek alternative and non-conventional forms of medication. About a week of taking CBD drastically minimized seizures to just four times in one day.

This testimony backed with scientific studies helped the approval of Epidiolex.

Unknown to this little girl, she started to revolutionize the CBD industry in pharmaceuticals. The FDA approval of Epiodiolex was a great milestone for CBD.

CBD and Your Wellness

With the increased popularity of CBD in the market, you may easily spot these products on the shelves of department stores, in magazines, ads on social media. It is everywhere. It is important that you do your homework. Check the label, research about the company. Even if CBD is legal, it is still not regulated. CBD should never be sold as a dietary supplement - so you better watch out for these false claims.

Check out the label too - know the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil. Hemp oil, although it is legal and vitamin rich, does not contain cannabinoids.

It is also important that you check in with your healthcare professional first. Have an honest and direct conversation about your intention to use CBD in your wellness journey. This is just a precautionary move to make sure that CBD would not affect any of your current medications or conditions.

There are many reputable companies that you could discuss with your doctor.
