Book Nook: Let's All Get in the Casserole Dish

When he isn’t making strange noises in his cellar or breeding pigeons, Les Birdwhistle finds himself changing the very face of the globally-popular children’s fantasy genre.

‘Let's All Get In The Casserole Dish’ may just be the most off-the-wall yet engrossing new release of 2019, as the author throws the literary rulebook out of the window, does things his own way and ensures absurdity finally gets its mainstream breakthrough.

Synopsis:

A strange and beautifully illustrated tale involving aliens travelling to Earth in a casserole dish, hairstyle awards and more nonsense. There are not many stories like this available and it is appealing to both children and adults. This is the start of a new genre in fantasy writing.

“When anyone writes a book, there’s a series of expectations,” explains the author. “I say…no! Let’s get outside of the box, throw it to one side and shake things up. The fantasy genre has some wonderful hallmarks but, with a bit of raw creative thinking and a fearless attitude to changing its culture, we can produce stories like this that stand completely alone in the market.”

Continuing, “It’s a good, fun adventure for young minds that race and refuse to accept the status quo. Even adults are loving the narrative which is great, because I’m currently writing my next book!”

Reviews have been extremely positive. Judy comments, “An enjoyable read, opens up the imagination in a wonderful way. Beautifully illustrated and lighthearted, descriptive and insightful. Will look forward to any further adventures on this delightful planet!! Highly recommended.”

Another reader adds, “Loved it! About time! Something new and different. Well worth a read for all. Fantastic illustrations and story. I do hope there’s more! Thanks Les Birdwhistle.”

About the Author:

Les Birdwhistle is one of England's rare and curious storytellers. Gaining inspiration from the quaint absurdities in life, he enjoys translating his experiences and dreams onto paper.

He often creates his illustrations to the sound of a church bell, while drinking tea from a brothel creeper. He also enjoys breeding pigeons, playing the French horn and making strange noises in his cellar.

His new genre of writing is not designed to conform and there is no room for compromise to satisfy anyone in the business. It will be enjoyed by the open-minded, the carefree and the breezy.
