Book Nook: The North Pole Lockdown

For any child, 2020 has been a confusing year. But what happens to Christmas? It’s still on the calendar of course, but will things be going ahead as normal?

And if so, how is Father Christmas coping to get ready, and how will he handle the logistics of his busy night delivering toys to boys and girls around the world? One UK mum has taken these questions and wrapped them up into a fun and entertaining new children’s book.

THE NORTH POLE IS IN LOCKDOWN....

A mystery virus is spreading the globe, the toy factory has been closed and the elves have been told to work from home. Rudy becomes the local delivery man, Flo the elf streams daily P.E sessions and the factory elves are trying to work from home whilst home-schooling their kids... Everyone has had enough! Luckily, Father Christmas has a plan and with a little bit of hard work, social distancing and some new designer PPE, he's confident the North Pole can save Christmas!

“I wanted to write something to directly address children’s anxieties around this Christmas,” explains the author. “The story is also written to subtly help parents open gentle discussions around mental health, physical wellbeing and the importance of following the rules during this most unique time. If children are good – Christmas can continue as normal!”

Continuing, “I also want children to be able to capture their memories of this year. Yes, a lot of tragedy has befallen the world in 2020 – but it’s going to be a huge part of history, and I’d love my book to be a keepsake for them to remember the wildest year they ever lived. Who knows, perhaps they’ll even pass it onto their own children one day, and share stories of their memories.”

About the Author:

Danielle is just a regular mum, who happens to enjoy writing poems and stories for her children. Lockdown has been such a strange time for everyone, especially children and so she felt it was important to capture some memories and make them into a fun story for them to enjoy. Making people smile has always been important to her, so she is hoping this book does that for the reader.
