CSI lovers now have one more reason to celebrate. Alcatraz East Crime Museum has turned its education room into an exhibit on respect and kindness. The room has hosted schools and scouts for educational purposes and will also accept other celebrations, including birthdays, retirement and team building. The room will feature positive messages, tips and videos on respect and kindness. To kick things off, the room will be open to the public all day, with activities and opportunities throughout the day to meet and greet McGruff, the crime dog, on April 17, 2021.
"We are excited to offer education and celebratory opportunities in this space while having a positive influence," explains Candice Cook, director of operations at Alcatraz East Crime Museum. "We look forward to positively influencing others, from respect to anti-bullying."
The celebration room is a new space for parties and will serve as an exhibit that focuses on respect, kindness and anti-bullying. The museum worked with the National Crime Prevention Council and National Center of Missing & Exploited Children to bring positive messaging into the new space. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, around 20% of students 12-18 experience bullying nationwide. With internet bullying prominent in both adults and children, the space pairs well with the museum's internet safety questions located throughout the museum.
"We have many programs for all ages, so the celebration-themed room is a great addition," added Cook. "We look forward to positively influencing others."
The room will also host a meet and greet of members of Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s K9 unit. The event is open to the public from 10:30am -12:30pm on April 1, 2021. For more information, visit: https://www.facebook.
