HandiGuru - Founder Interview

Whether you are a kid at camp or a surfer at the beach, HandiGuru can be your first line of defense against sunburn this summer. Each silicone wristband holds 20 squirts of sunscreen - enough to protect you all day long - and is easy to refill on the go too. With just a quick look down at your wrist, you won’t miss your every-two-hour sunscreen reapplication to help keep you burn-free!
Holding a days’ worth of “sunscreen to go” for active fun in the surf, sand, and sun!

Santa Barbara-area innovator and artist, Benjamin Anderson says, “I’ve been outdoors my whole life and have had more than my fair share of sunburns.”’ Anderson spent months finding an easy-to-use and comfortable, wearable band that could withstand a day in the water or climbing a mountain.

HandiGuru is not just for sunscreen; it can dispense 15-20 healthy squirts (15ml) of hand sanitizer, bug/mosquito repellant, and more. Whatever your needs are for the day, HandiGuru is up for the adventure!

I had a chance to learn more in this interview with Founder and Innovator, Ben Anderson.

1.Why was HandiGuru created? I needed a better, more streamlined solution for carrying hand sanitizer. Something that allowed my family and I to instantly sanitize at any time at the press of my fingers, quickly and efficiently.

2.What makes it easier for kids and their adults? HandiGurus are a constant reminder on your wrist to re-apply sanitizer or sunscreen and help to keep protecting yourself when you’re out and about. Kids love the ’squeeze’ and ’satisfaction’ of using the HandiGuru and it’s ease of use. As parents, we’re always reminding our kids to re-apply and HandiGurus help with this quite a bit!

3.How can parents make sure to encourage responsible use of things like sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and bug repellent? Educating our kids on how often to reapply is key. It’s up to us to get them into the groove on timing and use based on what product we’re using in our HandiGurus. Once the kids get the hang of it, it becomes second nature to give a little squeeze and stay safe outdoors.
