This will be an emotional and powerful event that is sure to provide a deeper understanding of the challenges facing foster youth.

Journey House is a non-profit, that advocates for national, state and local policy change in the foster care system in addition to providing critical services to those who have gone through the foster system and to probation youth.

Journey House is unique in that it is the only organization in the LA area dedicated to bridging the gap in the years between “aging out” of the foster system and achieving autonomy, that has no age limit on its recipients. As such, the average JH client is between the ages of 18 and 30, and the priority is on education. However, because there is no age limit some of the people who have received help over the 34 years Journey House has existed, are still connected to the organization - into their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s - after becoming doctors, teachers, therapists, business owners, and parents themselves.

Another special asset of Journey House is that it is led and run by people who have been in the foster care system and have direct experience of what it’s like.

to see all of the ways that Journey House helps this population
- with education, housing, childcare, mental health, finances, and community.
The many sponsors who have come together with Journey House to help make this event possible include Rain Phoenix’ arts activism project LaunchLeft, Scott Budnick of the ARC (Anti-Recidivism Coalition) and OneCommunity, filmmaker Eliot Rausch of Stink Films, livestream company In.Live, TheatreAmericana, FinalCut, Sharky McGee of Jewel-LA, musician Rob Campanella, LifeNote, SwartAd, cinematographer Tu Do, production designer Rafael Camarena, and arts activism org 404FOUND.
