Book Nook: Gigi Rowe Wishes

A child’s individualism can be seen through their dreams and imagination. In “Gigi Rowe Wishes,” by Gigi Rowe, her goal is to inspire children to pursue their passions and goals. Her debut picture book follows a vivacious young girl named Gigi as she embarks on a journey where she follows her aspirations. Readers will travel with Gigi as she wishes she was in Paris, Rome and flying through the sky in a magical pink car.

The author perfectly embodies the sparkling character in the fictional universe through her musical career success and her attitude towards life. The book is told through beautiful illustrations that show Gigi following her dreams of becoming a pop star and living in cotton candy clouds in a charming place called the Stardust Motel. “Gigi Rowe Wishes” will spark the imagination of many readers and invite them to fantasize along with young Gigi. This sweet tale will bring smiles to many faces and helps children to believe that anything is possible.

I had a chance to learn more in this interview.

Why did you write this book?

When I first envisioned Gigi Rowe as a larger-than-life pop star persona for my music career, I always imagined that she was also a character in her own fantastical universe. It is a world where magical adventures happen from Gigi’s home at the Stardust Motel. She flies through the cotton candy clouds in her bright pink convertible, bringing color, positivity and possibilities to all. I wrote Gigi Rowe Wishes as a way to start bringing this world to life, and as an invitation for all dream seekers to join.

Why is it important for kids to set goals and strive for things?

I think it is important for anyone and everyone - at all ages - to constantly set goals and strive for big things! When it comes to kids, I believe it is significant to empower them with confidence and instill in them the unshakable belief that they are capable of achieving anything. It is not always going to be easy, but believing and taking steps - even small ones - towards a goal makes anything possible. I think it is important to be told that our dreams matter, that they are valuable, and we can strive for whatever we wish for.

What was your favorite part about the writing/publishing process?

I really loved collaborating with my illustrator. It was a thrill to see the world I’d imagined in my head coming to life through such vivid drawings.
