I recently had a chance to review This Kind of Love: The Overwhelming Power of Promises, Patience, and Faith. It is the story of popular YouTubers Kaelin and Kyrah Edwards as they’ve learned to live through the lens of God’s promises and life’s crazy adventures together.
One thing I appreciated in the book was how candid and honest the authors were about struggles in their lives. They weren't afraid to share the hard stuff. It was also nice to hear their own distinct voices and perspectives and they went back and forth each chapter.
For people who are fans of their YouTube channel, this book will be a great read. It shares more about how they got started and who they are as people, not just as characters. Sometimes it felt like the book was a little abrupt moving from one part to the next, but they were trying to fit a lot into it. It's interesting because the book ends just as the pandemic was starting, so it's a very quick ending - but it works, both in view of the pandemic and in view of the fact that they're still young and have a lot of their story left to write!
If you've seen them on YouTube and enjoy their channel, you'll enjoy this book - and even if you haven't heard of them, if you're interested in reading books about how other people navigate struggles in their relationships, this book will give you that perspective as well.
