Book Nook: Broke, Not Broken - Personal Finance for the Creative, Confused, Underpaid, and Overwhelmed

I recently had a chance to review Broke, Not Broken: Personal Finance for the Creative, Confused, Underpaid, and Overwhelmed by Anna Joe Beck.

This book is a great resource for young adults trying to get a handle on their personal finance. It touches on a variety of topics that everyone needs to know, but is also realistic - the author recognizes that creature comforts like small splurges here and there are part of what keep us human and can be incorporated into even a tight budget. There are charts and worksheets that make the advice in the book practical and can help readers tailor it to their own situations. She touches on building a safety net and creating positive financial habits, and common sense tips like living within your means (without being preachy and insisting that you live as an ascetic). If you know someone just starting out on their own financially, this can be a good resource for them.
